Prenatal Multivitamins with Minerals and Folic Acid is used for:

Treating or preventing a lack of vitamins or minerals before, during, and after pregnancy, and while breast-feeding. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.


Do NOT use Prenatal Multivitamins with Minerals and Folic Acid if:


  • you are allergic to any ingredient in Prenatal Multivitamins with Minerals and Folic Acid

  • you have high blood calcium levels

Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.



Before using Prenatal Multivitamins with Minerals and Folic Acid:


Some medical conditions may interact with Prenatal Multivitamins with Minerals and Folic Acid. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:


  • if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding

  • if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement

  • if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances (including soy products)

  • if you have a history of bowel problems (eg, bowel blockage), certain blood disorders (eg, megaloblastic anemia, pernicious anemia), high calcium levels in the urine, kidney problems, kidney stones, peptic ulcer, sarcoidosis, or parathyroid gland problems

  • if you have had multiple blood transfusions

Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with Prenatal Multivitamins with Minerals and Folic Acid. Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:


  • Fluorouracil because the risk of its side effects may be increased by Prenatal Multivitamins with Minerals and Folic Acid

  • Hydantoins (eg, phenytoin) or mycophenolate because their effectiveness may be decreased by Prenatal Multivitamins with Minerals and Folic Acid

How to use Prenatal Multivitamins with Minerals and Folic Acid:


Use Prenatal Multivitamins with Minerals and Folic Acid as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.


  • Take Prenatal Multivitamins with Minerals and Folic Acid by mouth with or without food. If stomach upset occurs, take with food to reduce stomach irritation.

  • Take Prenatal Multivitamins with Minerals and Folic Acid with a full glass of water (8 oz/240 mL).

  • If you also take an azole antifungal (eg, ketoconazole), bisphosphonate (eg, etidronate), cation exchange resin (eg, sodium polystyrene sulfonate), cephalosporin (eg, cefdinir), iron, quinolone (eg, ciprofloxacin), tetracycline (eg, doxycycline), or thyroid hormone (eg, levothyroxine), ask your doctor how you should take it with Prenatal Multivitamins with Minerals and Folic Acid.

  • If you miss a dose of Prenatal Multivitamins with Minerals and Folic Acid, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Important safety information:


  • Do not take more than the recommended dose without checking with your doctor.

  • Do not take large doses of vitamins (megadoses or megavitamin therapy) while you use Prenatal Multivitamins with Minerals and Folic Acid unless your doctor tells you to.

  • Tell your doctor or dentist that you take Prenatal Multivitamins with Minerals and Folic Acid before you receive any medical or dental care, emergency care, or surgery.

  • Prenatal Multivitamins with Minerals and Folic Acid has folic acid in it. Before you start any new medicine, check the label to see if it also has folic acid in it too. If it does or if you are not sure, check with your doctor or pharmacist.

  • Prenatal Multivitamins with Minerals and Folic Acid should be used with extreme caution in CHILDREN; safety and effectiveness in children have not been confirmed.


Possible side effects of Prenatal Multivitamins with Minerals and Folic Acid:


All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. No COMMON side effects have been reported with Prenatal Multivitamins with Minerals and Folic Acid. Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur:



Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); severe or persistent constipation.

Proper storage of Prenatal Multivitamins with Minerals and Folic Acid:

Store Prenatal Multivitamins with Minerals and Folic Acid at room temperature, between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Prenatal Multivitamins with Minerals and Folic Acid out of the reach of children and away from pets.
